Movement Matters

Hello from Active Devon

As the message to spend more time outdoors gathers pace we understand there'll be many questions about what this means from a physical activity perspective. With that in mind check out the current 'state of play' helping you #staysafestayactive with direct links to current government guidance.

There are many in Devon who provide sport coaching and physical activity sessions. It has been fantastic how so much of this has been taken safely online. Do have a listen to a recent podcast between the CEO of Sport England and the head of UK Coaching highlighting the current situation and bringing out some of the great approaches coaches and instructors are taking.

We know that being active is incredibly good for your health and protects our cardio-respiratory systems. There has been much speculation about how our physical activity behaviours are changing and will continue to adapt in light of the pandemic. Sport England's attitudes survey gives some interesting insight and is certainly worth a look.

Our virtual games is fully underway helping Devon's children and young people stay active, find out more about the next virtual activity challenge here.

Finally we know that funding is helpful to sustaining many local groups and with the scene changing so quickly we've provided a useful funding page highlighting the most recent opportunities.

Keep moving and stay safe,

From all the team at Active Devon
