Welcome to 2018!
We are looking forward to an exciting January. As a whole school we will be learning a story called “The Papaya that Spoke.” Our children will be learning and using new vocabulary, taking part in exciting activities. We will attend the whole school celebration assembly. We will learn the story using actions and a story map.
We will be comparing our Winter weather with the weather you need to grow Papayas! We will have a Knowledge and Understanding the World focus this term, particularly looking at growing. After the Papaya, we will read Jack in the Beanstalk and Jasper and the Beanstalk. The Spring term has lots of important events, like Chinese new year (the year of the dog), Shrove Tuesday, Mother’s day and Easter.
We will continue to support the children in their mathematical understanding, using, playing with and naming shapes, comparing sizes, weights and measuring. We will also continue to learn to count, learn about numerals, match objects to numbers, learn about more, less and the same.
As always, we really appreciate your support. Working together gets the best results for your children. If you have any questions, or you would like to be more involved, or know more about what we do, please ask us.
